NATIVE PLANT SALE
- 8:00 a m – Noon (or until the plants run out)
- The Friends of Rockhound State Park will have a sale of native and
desert adapted plants. Come early for best selection. Funds raised go
toward special events and educational programming in Rockhound and
Spring Canyon State Parks . Master Gardeners and Friends will be present
to assist in your selections.

GUIDED PLANT WALK
- 9:00 a m – 11:00 a m
- Join Gene Jercinovic for plant exploration. Be sure to remember
sturdy shoes, water and a hat.

DR CAROL SUTHERLAND
- Entomologist with NMDA and NMSU
- 10:00 a m to 2:00 p m
- Visit with Dr Carol and check out her display of butterflies,
insects and bugs of our area. A chance to ask questions of a real
aficionado! Dr Carol will have her book “Let’s Color Some Insects”
available free of charge.

NEW MEXICO RAPTORS
- Laura Simmons
- 10:00 am to 2:00 p m
- Laura will be here with two live raptors, a Peregrine Falcon and a
Swainson’s Hawk—what a chance to see them up close and personal! Bring
your cameras for this special treat!

Deming Garden Club
- Deming boasts a very active garden club. Find out from members what
the club does.
- Face painting will be available at no charge for children.
Silent Auction
- A fundraiser for the Friends group, many items will be available for
bid.
- Auctions every 30 minutes!
Butterfly Habitat
- Here’s a chance to pickup some great information about creating your
own Butterfly Gardens . Learn what plants they eat and who you can
expect to see.
Friends of Rockhound State Park, Inc.
- This public benefit 501C3 corporation was formed in March, 2004.
Visit with members and check out their scrapbooks of the past years
events. Find out how to become a “Friend” and why you might enjoy
joining this group! Take a walk through the Native Garden to see our
wide variety of native and adapted desert plants.

- Jim Hazelton finds and polishes thundereggs. He also makes
earrings from genuine rattlesnake vertebra.
- Gary & June Loudon prepare polished gemstones
- Ron Wolfe does outstanding nature photography.
- Come visit these talented folks—you may be able to purchase some
gift items for yourself and friends!
